5-letter Word Game : Proposed Rules

In the formation of every new word :

Rule 1: One OR two letters of the previous word MUST be replaced

Rule 2: The letters may be re-arranged, if necessary

Rule 3 : The first letter MUST be one of the last three letters of the previous word.

Rule 4 : No proper nouns [Names of places (KANDY) or people (RIFKY)]



e.g. Previous Word : DENSE

New Word 1 ENTER ( begins with E / D & S replaced by T & R)

OR
New Word 2 SENSE (Begins with S / D replaced by S)

Words conforming to the rules and following a non-conforming word will be accepted and scores awarded. No score for any non-conforming word. Decision by the Moderator.
Game and play to continue even if participants are aware that the word is non conforming.


We also propose introducing the following Scoring System :

E, X, Y = 0

A, I, O, R, N, T, L, S, U = 1

D, G, B, C, M, P = 2

F, H, V, W, K = 3

J, Q, Z = 4

NOTE : This system has been based on the Scrabble system, with the exception of the letters E, X and Y - the reason being that other experienced 5-letter Word Game Players claim that it is ‘very hard to find 5-letter words beginning with these letters’. So we thought we should discourage our worthy players from using such letters by awarding zero points to these three letters to prevent the Game getting ‘stuck’ and thereby ending abruptly before 31st August 2006.
